READING VENTURES OF JUNIOR BOOK CLUB IN 2013

TERM 1:

One of new books we are discovering in 2013 is part novel part diary - and incredibly rich in both language and illustration - so a wonderful reading experience all around: The Grimstone series by Asphyxia.

The website which accompanies these books has loads of interesting info abut how the books and their puppet characters evolved and about the theatre experiences that gave hem life. There are also some terrific video clips of the theatre performances which have been created by Asphyxia and her theatre team, including the following clip (which can also be found on YouTube):

At the end of Term 1 we visited the Ballarat Public Library and enjoyed a great tour. The Youth Services and Children's Librarian had also set aside some new books for us and we were able to browse the YA shelves, eat lunch in the library ans read for a while. We had a really great time and hope to go again soon. Here is a video of our adventures:

TERM 2:
We plan to celebrate National Family Reading Month in May with some fun activities.

Here are the relevant info sheets.

Here are some photos of Book Clubbers and their extended families enjoying some reading time together:
